Sergey, here are several ways:

After turning off the water, prepare a small amount of cement mortar of such a consistency that its viscosity resembles thick sour cream.

Having cut a piece about 20 cm long from a medical bandage (the length of the bandage should allow it to be wound around the pipe in an amount of at least 2 turns), soak the bandage in cement mortar, and then tightly bandage the pipe with it at the leak site.

To be sure, repeat the procedure for bandaging the pipe with one or two more pieces of bandage.

Coat the treated area with cement mortar on top and refrain from using water for 24 hours until the mortar has completely set. If the repaired section of the pipe is coated with paint, it will not only become more aesthetically pleasing, but also stronger.

As paradoxical as it sounds, salt is quite effective in helping to eliminate leaks in heating pipes. If the leak is minor, just rub a small amount of salt into the leak area with your hand and the leak will soon heal.

In case of a more serious leak, bandage the pipe with a medical bandage, accompanying each turn with a sprinkle of salt.

Do not forget that this method of eliminating a leak is temporary; “salt patches” will hold back the water pressure only until the water in the heating pipes cools down.

To make it, you will need an elastic rubber bandage, which is used by athletes or an ordinary bicycle inner tube. It will have to be cut, making a kind of rubber bandage about 10 cm wide.

Wrap a rubber bandage or inner tube tightly, very tightly, around the pipe at the leak site, securing it with 2-3 clamps or wrapping it with wire.

The use of a rubber band is a temporary measure to eliminate pipe leaks, although such a bandage can last for more than one season.

In addition to the harness, to eliminate leaks, you can use a factory bandage consisting of sealing rubber and clamps.

There are also bandages consisting of two halves connected to each other with bolts, a device resembling a clamp, with the help of which you can temporarily neutralize leaks in pipes of different diameters.

Cold welding:

To ensure that cold welding adheres well, clean the surface of the pipe with a knife or coarse sandpaper from paint to bare metal.

An emery block for sharpening knives will also work, the main thing is speed and accuracy. Try to clean the pipe so that the size of the leak does not increase.

Apply one-component cold welding immediately to the damaged area of a pipe or heating radiator; for two-component cold welding, knead thoroughly beforehand.

Press the adhesive mass forcefully into the place where the water is flowing, holding it with your hand for a while until the glue sets.

Each of the described methods for eliminating leaks in water and heating pipes is good in its own way. However, all of them are temporary; eliminating a leaking pipe must be followed by a major repair.

Soft glass on the table Decosave Soft or, as it is also called, a silicone tablecloth on the table is made of transparent thick PVC film 2mm.

The characteristic features of this material are:

  • elasticity and flexibility (allows the silicone tablecloth to fit tightly to the table),
  • thickness 2mm (sufficient to protect the table surface from cuts, grease stains and chips),
  • heavy (the weight of 1 square meter is about 2.5 kg, which allows the silicone tablecloth not to slide on the table),
  • temperature of use up to +70 degrees (the table pad can withstand and does not deform if you place hot cups and plates),
  • transparency (soft glass on the Decosave Soft table will not cover the beauty of your table, unlike ordinary tablecloths with a pattern).

We recommend using our transparent PVC tablecloth on kitchen tables. The table overlay will be a practical addition to a beautiful tablecloth; now you won’t have to worry about stains and stains. To install soft glass on a Decosave Soft table, simply distribute the material evenly over the entire surface of the table. I, like many table owners, have encountered the problem of chips and scratches on an MDF table. Our family is against using a tablecloth with a pattern, because... it blocks the view of the table. I ordered soft glass for the Decosave Soft table. This is a find! No need to worry if your child spills juice or leaves greasy stains. The table pad is easy to clean and wipe, and the table remains clean and dry. Soft glass for a table made of 2mm PVC film is an excellent solution for practical owners.

Thanks to Decosave for such a transparent PVC film for the table! At first there was a smell characteristic of a new tablecloth for several days, then it disappeared. The cover protects the table well from scratches and dirt. The only thing is that I do not recommend placing hot pots directly from the stove - marks may remain. But the most important thing is that it can be easily removed from the table and rolled up. The soft glass on the Decosave Soft table is easy to clean with a damp cloth made of a non-rough material. I'm planning to order another 2mm PVC film for the bar counter...

Set contents:
1. bottle with the main component A - 100ml;
2. bottle with hardener B - 50ml

The components are mixed in the ratio 2A + 1B

You will need:
1. wooden mixing stick
2. 3 disposable plastic cups
3. rubber gloves
4. disposable plastic teaspoon or flat brush
5. lighter for gas stoves (with a long “spout”) or any burner

Filling technology:
1. Place a mark on one of the cups with a felt-tip pen (this is 1 part of the composition)
2. Pour component A to the mark and pour into a clean glass.
3. Pour the second part of component A to the mark and pour again so that you have 2 parts of component A
4. Pour component B into the glass with the mark, pour into component A very slowly, stirring constantly.
5. Now in the glass there are 2 parts A and 1 part B - mix the composition slowly for 2-3 minutes.
6. Pour the mixture into a third clean glass and stir for another 1-2 minutes.
7. The composition is ready. If you want to make the coating thin (1mm), use a flat brush (throw away the brush after use); if the coating is thicker (from 3mm to 150mm), pour the composition onto the product and level it with a disposable spoon.
8. During mixing, bubbles form in the composition; after pouring, pass the lighter over the surface and the bubbles will burst (you can repeat it a second time after 1-2 minutes to remove the bubbles that rise to the surface).

Very important!
1. Component A thickens at temperatures below 20C and may become cloudy white or crystallize. To return it to its original state, place the closed jar in hot water from the tap (not boiling water, do not heat over a fire), thus heating the composition to 40-50C. Make sure that no water gets into the composition. Try to work with the composition at room temperature and normal humidity.
2. Drying time also depends on the room temperature. At a temperature of 22-25C this is 22-24 hours. The lower the temperature, the longer the product will take to dry. But you should not dry the product on a heater or central heating radiator; such drying can lead to yellowing of the coating.

Precautionary measures:
1. Safe when used as directed;
2. Do not use as food;
3. Keep away from children;
4. Not recommended for use by children under 14 years of age.

With the advent of a protective coating based on liquid glass on the construction market, consumers immediately appreciated its unique capabilities. Currently, this composition has a fairly wide scope of use. How is processing done using liquid glass and what is it?

What is the material

Silicate glue or, as it is otherwise called, liquid glass is an aqueous solution of silicate salts. Depending on the main component there are:

  • sodium liquid glass, characterized by a high degree of adhesiveness, fire resistance, antiseptic and waterproofing properties;
  • potassium, which is immune to atmospheric influences and acid attack.

Soda glass is used to accelerate the hardening process of cement mixtures due to the chemical reaction that occurs.

Liquid glass has become widespread as a construction and finishing material due to its properties:

  1. Hydrophobic (water-repellent). Thanks to this property, liquid glass is used to treat surfaces exposed to prolonged contact with liquid, including wood products. As a result of impregnation, they will not be subject to swelling and deformation.
  2. Antiseptic. This property allows the use of silicate glue for protective impregnation of walls against such negative manifestations as mold and mildew.
  3. Fireproof. Impregnating floors and walls with liquid glass increases the fire safety of the room.
  4. Antistatic. The material eliminates electrification and does not provoke the occurrence of static electricity.
  5. Acid-resistant. Impregnation with a silicate solution helps protect the surface from exposure to chemicals.
  6. Eco-friendly. This material does not emit substances harmful to the human body.

Application for waterproofing

Liquid glass due to its chemical composition copes well with filling porous materials:

  • bricks;
  • concrete;
  • plasters;
  • wood

When the surface is treated with a silicate composition, its hydrophobicity and strength increase. Therefore, liquid glass has become particularly widespread in the processing of foundations, walls and floors of basements, wells and swimming pools. To make it, you need to combine water, cement and ironclad in equal proportions.

The surface to be treated must first be prepared: leveled and cleaned of dirt. When processing wood, it is desirable to preserve its natural unevenness (this will ensure better adhesion of materials). If you had to wet the surface during cleaning, then it must be allowed to dry before processing. The thickness of the waterproofing mortar layer must be at least 3 mm.

Silicate solution is also used when covering floors in a bathhouse or bathroom. To create a hydrophilic coating of a large area, for example, to cover a floor or walls, you can use a spray gun, roller or brush.

Application to increase the fire resistance of materials

The fire resistance of liquid glass allows it to be used for:

  • masonry of fireplaces, chimneys and stoves;
  • production of heat-resistant concrete and cement, as well as fire-resistant paints and varnishes;
  • impregnation of wood to give it fire-retardant properties;
  • covering elements of metal structures.

To prepare a fireproof silicate mortar, 3 parts sand, 1 part cement and 1 part liquid glass are required. Such a mixture quickly hardens as a result of the chemical reaction that occurs, so you can first make the necessary structure from ordinary mortar, and then apply an external coating of the concrete with a fire-resistant layer.

To give the surface fire-resistant properties, you can coat wood or concrete only with liquid glass from a spray gun, using it as a primer. Walls can also be impregnated either with a separate solution of silicates or in the form of a cement screed for the floor.

Pouring the flooring

In bathrooms, showers, bath rooms and indoor swimming pools, which are characterized by constant humidity and wet floors, flooring can be made using liquid glass. To fill the floor you need:

  • if wooden floors are laid, then first make a concrete screed;
  • pour the silicate solution onto the dry surface in equal portions;
  • level the glue layer with a wide spatula;
  • carry out final leveling of the layer with a thickness of 3-5 mm using a squeegee;
  • After the silicate layer has dried, apply a finishing coat of varnish ( would be better suited polyurethane or epoxy).

It is worth considering that it is impossible to decorate a floor already covered with liquid glass. When pouring a concrete screed, the floor surface will have a corresponding “concrete” color and texture. Decorating the floor must be done before applying a layer of liquid glass. Alternatively, you can paint the concrete. At the same time, it is recommended to add a small amount of silicate to paints and varnishes to improve their adhesion to concrete. After the paint has dried, you can fill the floor according to the above algorithm.

By the way, taking into account the non-toxicity of the material, its heat and water resistance, it can be used to treat a steam room, which is most often made of wood and can be subject to deformation with constant exposure to moist hot air without proper care.

Other uses

Liquid glass is also used for many other purposes:

In construction stores, liquid glass is presented in a wide range: both in pure form and ready-made Construction Materials based on it. Thanks to its low price, this material is available to any consumer, regardless of his income level. The main thing is to choose a composition that is suitable for its characteristics.

The covering tabletop can have different thicknesses. The thickness depends on the main purpose of the product. For example, standard size Most protective coatings do not exceed 6 mm - this is quite enough to protect against hot objects, scratches and other minor impacts. If you need glass on the table more for aesthetics, then its thickness can reach 15 mm, depending on your desire.

Most often, transparent options are used, through which you can easily see the main surface - the wood pattern is very beautiful under the glossy coating. However, there are varieties: colorless, lightened, matte, colored in the mass.

Lightened glass is recommended for those tables that are made of particularly valuable types of wood or painted with patterns: it has increased transparency. The usual colorless material has a greenish, fairly bright end, but the bleached one is much whiter.

The matte finish will create a “velvet” surface effect, ideal for those who do not like glossy shine and do not want to bother themselves with frequent wiping. The matte surface leaves much less marks, especially from palms and fingers.

Bronze or gray are options for colored surfaces that are most often chosen for a certain range in the interior.

If you are interested in something more creative, you can always choose the decorated option. Various photographic images, matte patterns, coloring, etc. can be used for decoration. Literally any image that fits the interior is used as templates: all the drawings look very colorful and bright.

Regarding safety, the edges are always treated. The processing method depends on the customer’s preferences: it can be either a euro-edge (trapezoid) or a pencil (semicircle), or a bevel (beveled edge). In the case of bevel, its width can be any up to 30 mm or more, depending on the dimensions of the product itself.

There are several creative types of coating design, in addition to drawings and patterns. One of the most popular is the so-called “broken” triplex. The triple layer of glass looks like it has been completely crushed, but only one, the middle one, is deliberately broken. Thus, inside the triplex, which is completely intact and smooth both above and below, there is a layer of crumbs, which creates this effect. It looks very unusual and is perfect for decorating kitchen and dining sets.

Regardless of the chosen coating and the presence of patterns, the product is resistant to various types pollution. It also easily tolerates moisture, unlike wood, even varnished wood. Thus, a glass top will easily protect the furniture from deformation due to exposure to moisture and small debris that scratches the varnish. You can decorate your work surface with a massive metal candlestick or lamp: not a trace will remain of its legs on the surface.
