All girls love jewelry, and the more, the better. But you must admit, sometimes stores don’t have what we want - everything is boring and monotonous. Do you want something unusual and original, for example, a ring? Then you have come to the right place for help. In this article we will tell you how to make a ring at home. Such jewelry, made with your own hands, is much more pleasant to wear, since your soul was invested in it. Every home has a lot of unnecessary things that can be useful in work. We will consider each method in detail. Stay with us and you will learn how to make a ring with your own hands from long-forgotten materials. So, let's begin!

What can rings be made from?

If you decide to do something extraordinary, then use the most unpredictable materials; they are the ones that make creative and unique jewelry. Check out a few ideas:

  • Revisit your box of long-forgotten buttons. With a little digging, you can find original buttons of interesting shape and design.
  • Almost everyone has wire at home. This is a great helper in creating the base for a ring. Any wire is suitable for the job, regardless of thickness and color.
  • Every girl has beads and beads. Take a close look at the jewelry box. Every girl probably has her favorite beads or bracelet that were once torn. Using them as intended, you will get a bright ring.
  • Never throw away old broken rings. They will serve as an excellent basis for a new DIY ring.
  • You can make a stylish ring from old coins, and more.
  • A satin ribbon will help create a feminine and delicate look.

We have listed the main materials for making a ring with your own hands, and believe me, this is not the entire list. To create a ring, you can use almost anything you like, you just have to use your imagination to make something exclusive.

How to make a beautiful ring? — Getting ready for creative work

How to make a ring with your own hands at home, using only available materials? Yes Easy!

Before you start working with the selected materials:

  • First, decide what kind of ring you want.
  • Now we need to determine the size of the future ring. To do this, you need to take a strip of paper and wrap it around the finger on which you plan to wear the ring.

Important! If you already have a ring for this finger, then use its size to make a new ring - this is the easiest way.

  • Now, using a pen or pencil, make a mark where one edge intersects the other.
  • We cut off the excess paper and get the desired size for the ring.

Important! You can simply measure the strip - this will be the size of the new ring. The same strip can be used as a template for measuring prepared materials.

wire ring

Next we will tell you how to make a ring with your own hands using wire. Wire is the most common material in making rings with your own hands. Remember how, as children, we twisted wire roses and wore them as the most expensive decoration? Copper wire is quite affordable and durable, and at the same time multifunctional. It can be used for any type of weaving: braid, heart and many other shapes.

Important! If you do not have experience in weaving wire rings, then first practice on simple elements, and then you can start creating a complex composition.

This is one of the simplest methods that any needlewoman can handle. To make a wire ring you will need the following materials and tools:

  • An interesting button or natural stone.
  • Soft wire.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Round nose pliers.
  • A piece of tube in the shape of a cone.

The procedure for making a ring from wire:

  • First you need to secure the stone to the wire. If you are using a bead, then simply thread the wire through it.

Important! The stone can be painted using a can of spray paint. To do this, you need to place a pebble on a sheet of paper and point the sprayer at it. After complete drying, turn the stone over and process it on the other side in the same way.

  • Afterwards, using wire cutters, bend the wire back and attach it to the conical tube.
  • We wrap the wire around the entire conical tube several times.
  • Next, we tightly squeeze all the turns of the wire, and bend its ends up and down.
  • We remove the finished workpiece with the tube and the ends of the wire, fix the turns on the sides of the central stone or bead.
  • We wrap the ends of the wire around the entire ring, about 3-5 times.

Important! Make sure that the turns fit snugly against each other.

  • When finished, trim off the excess wire using pliers and secure all connected turns to create a flat shape.

Important! Remember that aluminum breaks quickly, so if you took just such a wire, when creating turns of different shapes, you need to be extremely careful and attentive.

Ring of pins

Don't believe that you can make a ring with your own hands from pins? You are very mistaken. This material can be beneficially used in such an interesting activity. How? We'll tell you everything later.

To work we will need:

  • Pins.
  • Beads.
  • Elastic thin elastic band.
  • Chain with small links.

So, let's start creating an 80s style ring using pins:

  1. To begin, take a pin and string beads onto it. The number of beads is at your discretion.
  2. We thread two thin elastic bands through both ends of the pin.
  3. Now we take the next pin and use the same method to put it on the elastic band, only its head should point in the opposite direction.
  4. Performing the same manipulations, we alternate the pins one by one until the desired circle is obtained.
  5. At the end of the work, tighten the elastic band and secure it, hiding all the knots.

Satin ribbon ring

Before starting work, you must prepare the following materials and tools:

  • Medium width satin ribbon.
  • Thick wire for the base of the ring.
  • Pliers.
  • Scissors.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Needle with thread.
  • Glue gun.
  • Glue.

Below is a step-by-step process for making a ribbon ring:

  • First of all, measure the required length of wire, and cut off the excess with wire cutters.

Important! In order for the future ring to be strong enough, we recommend making several turns with the tape. You can multiply the circumference of your finger by 3 and get the required piece of satin ribbon.

  • Now we simply wrap the finger with wire using pliers. Thus, we get the basis of the future ring.

Important! In this case, you can take a dimensional cone, as it is much faster and more convenient.

  • We take a satin ribbon and, using a glue gun, invisibly attach it to the edges of the wire. We begin to wrap the tape around the entire ring.

Important! It is necessary to ensure that the tape fits tightly enough to the wire when wrapping the circle.

  • When the tape is wound around the ring, we cut off the excess material, and then secure the end with glue.
  • Next, cut off a piece of tape, about 10-15 cm, and burn the ends with fire.

Important! To prevent the edges of the tape from fraying, you can heat the scissors with fire before cutting.

  • We form a bow from the ribbon and secure the middle with stitches.
  • Glue the bow to the base (where the end of the ribbon is glued).

Coin ring

It is possible to make a ring from a coin, but it is a rather complicated and time-consuming process. You can ask for help from a person who has the skills to work with metal products.

In order to start making a ring with your own hands using a coin, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • Drill.
  • Fine grit sandpaper.
  • Coin.
  • A small piece of metal.
  • Hammer.
  • Soft fabric.
  • Steel spoon.
  • Emery roller.
  • Polishing wheel.
  • Clip for decoration.

Now let's get started:

  • At the first stage, we take a coin, place it on its edge and place it on a metal base.
  • Press the base with a teaspoon.
  • Then we do the painstaking work. Take a hammer and hit the teaspoon until the coin becomes flat.

Important! Constantly monitor the process of flattening the teaspoon. Try to hit the coin with the same amount of force each time for the smoothest edge possible.

  • Then use a drill to make a hole in the very center of the coin. Once drilled through, the coin will be securely attached.
  • Now we sand the edge of the coin with sandpaper until the surface is shiny.
  • Next, use a drill to enlarge the hole in the circle. We constantly change the drill to a larger one until we get the required circle for the future product.

Important! When choosing the size of your jewelry, try it on constantly so that the ring does not end up being too big.

  • Using an emery roller, polish the inside of the ring.

Important! If desired, you can engrave the ring, but for this you need to contact a specialist.

Button ring

If you do not have a suitable base for the ring, then you can buy it at a jewelry making store. You can attach different materials to such a base: button, stone, plastic, shell and other materials. In this case, we will tell you how to make an original ring from long-forgotten buttons and a piece of fabric.

For work we will need the following materials and tools:

  • A round piece of black felt (diameter 5 cm).
  • Bright buttons.
  • Superglue or glue gun.
  • Base for the ring.
  • Jewelry pliers.
  • Scissors.

Let's get started:

  • If there are loops on the button, remove them using pliers.
  • Next, glue the buttons onto a piece of felt according to the pattern: from the center to the edge of the circle.

Important! The buttons must be darkly attached to the felt so that the end result is a round shape.

  • After the glue has completely dried, cut off the excess felt from the sides in a straight or zigzag line.
  • Coat the base well with glue.
  • Glue the previously made fabric with buttons onto the base.
  • We are waiting for the finished ring to dry completely and rejoice at the new thing.

DIY ring ready at home!

Beaded ring

You probably made different bead rings as a child? Its large assortment gives you the opportunity to show your imagination. It all depends on your desire and work experience. Beads can be taken in various designs: glued, strung on a fishing line or sewn on. Of course, the jewelry will not look presentable, but with the help of beads and beads you can create a rather beautiful ring.

To get started we will need:

  • Thin wire.
  • Beads (at your discretion).
  • Beads.
  • Glue.
  • Wire cutters.
  • Pliers.

Let's start making a ring from beads and beads:

  • First you need to measure the size of the future ring. To do this, multiply the girth of the finger by 3 or 4 and add 2 cm.
  • We cut the resulting length from the copper wire.
  • Next we string beads onto the wire.

Important! Please note that there should be 1 cm left at each end of the wire. The edges of the wire must be sealed with glue so that the beads do not fall off.

  • Wrap wire with beads around your finger or use a dimensional cone. We bend the remaining ends - we will need them later to secure the ring.
  • Now we begin making the ring. Take the wire and cut three pieces 2-3 cm long.
  • We string two beads onto each piece. We bend the ends of the wire so that the beads do not roll down.
  • After this, we bend all three parts in half so that a depression is formed in the center, arrange the beads at the ends of the wire.
  • We place the previously prepared base in the recess, threading parts of the wire through it.

Important! Do not forget that the bent edges of the wire should only be located near the ring.

  • Now we bend the pieces of wire so that the beads are located tightly to each other.
  • We twist all the ends of the wire so that the beads are on top.
  • With the ends that were previously bent, we finally secure the ring.

Important! When making a ring from beads, you can use various design options: weaving in one or several rows, or combining beads with other materials. Don't be afraid to experiment and you will succeed!

Leather ring

Agree, not every girl wears a leather ring, but this does not mean that you need to give up such an interesting idea. We will tell you the simplest and most affordable option.

List of materials needed to create a leather ring:

  • Leather lace of any color.
  • Wire.
  • Pliers.
  • Base for the ring.

Important! The base can be of different thicknesses, since after the entire manufacturing process it will be possible to adjust the size by simply moving the wire spiral.

Let's take a closer look at all the stages:

  1. First, we wind the wire onto the base, make several turns, stretching out the irregularities.
  2. Afterwards, we cut off the ends of the wire, and to prevent them from pricking, we bend them into loops.
  3. Now we take a leather cord and begin to weave it in a spiral along the entire base of the ring, passing the end of the leather either from above the wire or from below, constantly alternating. We repeat this procedure in the opposite direction.
  4. We continue to weave until the entire base of the ring is wrapped with leather cord.
  5. After all the procedures, cut the lace and hide the tip under the loop.

Chain ring

What can you make a finger ring from? Have you ever thought about a chain? But in vain. You can make a beautiful and delicate ring from the chain. Almost everyone has a broken chain that cannot be repaired and would be a shame to throw away.

In order to get started, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • Pliers or tweezers.
  • Chain.
  • Small clip rings.

So, let's begin work on making a ring from a chain:

  1. Take the chain and wrap it around your finger. In this way we will determine the size of the ring and cut the correct length of the chain.
  2. Carefully cut off the excess part.
  3. Using a ring with a clamp, secure both ends with pliers.
  4. Now you know how to make a ring with your own hands from scrap materials. Agree, it's not that difficult. Having familiarized yourself with the basic methods of creating a ring, you can easily make a stylish and original ring. Use your creativity in the right direction and you will definitely succeed!

A ring, a type of ring, is predominantly a masculine adornment, and made of “noble metal” emphasizes the status of its owner.
Now there are a lot of varieties and shapes of rings and everyone can find something of their own, but if you want something original that will highlight your style and give you the opportunity to prove yourself as a novice jeweler, this article is for you.

And so we need:
Any piece of steel (copper or brass) pipe, in general, that you can get, the internal diameter of the pipe should correspond to the diameter of your finger on which you will make the ring.

Next, we need to saw off the prepared section of pipe at an angle; the larger the angle, the wider the front part of the ring will be and, accordingly, the narrower the back.
Once you have decided on the angles, we will saw the future workpiece, do not be discouraged if it does not look attractive yet. Everything is ahead!

Then we grind off all the sharp corners and protrusions on the sides.

After you have given the ring the desired shape, let's start with the drawing - the choice is unlimited, it all depends on your imagination and the availability of the necessary tools, if you are good with metal etching, you can get a very good and interesting drawing, I settled on the classics and made a couple of cuts on the sides and 3 diagonally, then the tedious grinding process begins, if you have a power tool for polishing, this will greatly facilitate the polishing process, if you do not have the necessary tool, take a coarse sandpaper and level out rough irregularities, then take the very fine sandpaper that you can find in a circular pattern start polishing the ring with movements to remove all scratches.

And lastly, if you want to make your ring shiny, you need to rub it with goyim paste using a rag.
Using this method, if you have the desire and imagination, you can create unique designer products, everything is in your hands, good luck with your homemade products.

Production video:

Necessary materials:

Angle grinder;
a nut, the size of which must match the size of the finger;
Dremel sander;
crepe (painting tape);
sanding paper with grit 220 and 600;
knife with a sharp blade;
file;
table salt solution;
power unit;
varnish;
cotton buds.

Manufacturing instructions

Step 1. You need to grind off the corners of the nut
All safety regulations must be followed when performing this work. The nut must be tightened with pliers and using a grinder, gradually grind off the corners. One surface of the nut should remain
unprocessed.

Step 2. Narrowing the nut
After the corners of the nut have been ground off, you need to proceed to the stage of giving the nut the shape of a ring. This is done gradually, maintaining the symmetry of the sides. When the ring is narrowed enough, it is worth chamfering its edges and refining the shape.

Step 3. Processing the inside of the ring
Using a Dremel, you need to remove the internal threads of the nut. The surface must be treated evenly, maintaining symmetry. Internal chamfers must be made.

Step 4: Sanding the surface of the ring
Use a file to smooth out the grooves from the grinder and grinder. Finish the sanding with sandpaper of different grits. It’s better to start with 220 and finish with 600. With their help, you can achieve the desired smoothness of the future ring.

Step 5. Create a signet imprint design
Absolutely any design can be used as a print. For example, as an option, you can stylize your own initials.

Step 6. Preparing the workpiece for the etching process

To do this, you need to either cover the ring with nail polish or wrap it with masking tape, and then use a fairly sharp knife to cut out the intended image on the surface.

Step 7. Carrying out the electrolysis etching process

The power source can be a regular charger (12 V). The process itself is simple. The only thing is that the smell will be quite unpleasant. The positive wire from the charger should be connected to the ring. A solution should be diluted from salt and a cotton swab should be soaked in it.
It is to its wet side that you need to attach a wire with a negative charge. You will get a kind of stick-electrode, which will need to be passed several times in those places of the ring where you need to etch.
When the etching is finished, you need to disconnect all the wires and remove the tape.

Making jewelry is a long and painstaking process that requires several years of training, knowledge of physics, chemistry and the availability of expensive special equipment. We know this and spend hours searching for the jewelry we want in stores. Many people even develop a sketch on their own and go to a jewelry workshop to have a craftsman make the jewelry of their dreams.

Times are changing, and now anyone can be a jewelry maker. In order to make a real silver ring with our own design, we turned to a jewelry school ARGENTARIUM and made sure that it is not only interesting and exciting, but also really easy.

(Total 26 photos)

Before starting work, we were shown decorations made by instructors and students of the school. There are many decoration options, and you can do it all yourself.

Despite such a variety of possibilities, we still wanted a ring. We decided that if we liked it, we’d come back a little later for the pendant.

The first surprise: it turned out that it was not necessary to melt the silver to give it the desired shape. The decoration is made from plastic silver Precious Metal Clay (PMC), which was invented by specialists from the Japanese company Mitsubishi Materials Corporation. PMC mass consists of a mixture of tiny particles of silver, water and a non-toxic plasticizer, and it is as easy to work with as regular plasticine.

The whole process is simple and straightforward: you need to come up with a piece of jewelry, make it, fire it in a kiln (the water and plasticizer will burn, and the silver particles will be firmly sintered with each other), and at the end you will receive a 999-carat silver product. Modern alchemy at its finest! Before starting work, the head of the school, Evgenia, showed us what tools we could use to create exactly the decoration we wanted.

The second surprise: most of the tools for work are at hand for everyone: any texture can be “imprinted”, and to cut out the desired shape, an awl or blade will do.

Various stamps for producing imprints and imprints on the silver mass before firing.

To create volumetric products, you can use liquid silver in a syringe. Silver paste is squeezed onto the cork base using a syringe. The firing process burns away this base, leaving you with a hollow silver bead similar to those created by silversmiths hundreds of years ago called “filigree.”

There are thin plates-leaves made of plastic silver, from which you can fold any figure, for example origami. Isn't it a miracle to make a crane or a boat out of pure silver?

You can also use dried leaves as a preparation for future decoration. If you cover a leaf with liquid silver and burn it, the leaf will burn, and you will get a unique pendant or pendant that completely replicates all the natural curves and texture, which is simply impossible to make on your own.

In the jewelry business, there is no place without precious stones. You can add multi-colored inserts to the design of any jewelry: cubic zircons (cubic zirconia) or other laboratory stones that can withstand high temperatures.

Of course, it was very tempting to make ourselves a unique pendant, but we came for the ring and decided to make it anyway.

Before you start working with ductile silver, you need to correctly calculate the size of the ring, because during the firing process the mass shrinks by 16%.

Lubricate the board with a special compound so that the silver does not stick, and go ahead!

Roll out the RMS into a pancake of the calculated size. Cards glued together in several pieces on the sides of the workpiece allow us to adjust the thickness of the future ring and roll out the silver in an even layer. A simple life hack, proven by practice :)

PMC silver can be cut, rolled, added texture and given absolutely any shape. The third surprise: it is especially pleasant that ductile silver forgives any mistakes - after drying, it is easily restored with water and returns to its working condition. You have the opportunity to remake the decoration before firing if you don’t like something in the original piece, or add additional elements.

We created a ring with a floral design using a rubber stamp.

After we have received the desired impression and closed the ring, it needs to be dried.

Firing can be carried out in different ways. Pros use a jewelry muffle furnace, while for beginners, a more budget-friendly “home” option is suitable - a specially designed ceramic burner that runs on dry alcohol.

We fired the ring in a muffle furnace. At the right temperature and time conditions, the water is completely evaporated, the organic plasticizer burns out, and the silver particles are fused with each other, forming a solid metal that preserves the entire design down to the fingerprints.

After 25 minutes our ring was “baked” :)

Now we remove the oxide film - a white coating that appears on the surface of the product during combustion. Next, using jewelry tools, we finish the decoration.

The fourth surprise: after firing, you can do whatever you want with the metal. Drill, saw, grind, enamell, blacken and, of course, polish to a mirror shine!

Using a steel brush, remove the oxide film.

Sand with sandpaper.

A black special solution - jewelers call it “sulfur liver”, and mere mortals have access to another remedy - sulfur ointment, which is sold in any pharmacy. By the way, blackening a piece of jewelry is also an art. Blackening emphasizes the structure and ornament of the decoration: depending on the technique, the result can be so different that a separate master class was dedicated to this matter.

We polish the ring using an agate tool to give it shine.

And here it is - the ring of your dreams! Made according to your own design and with your own hands!

If you wish, you can learn to knit, sew, weave beads and fire pots. It seems that creating jewelry is something beyond ordinary human capabilities, somewhere at the intersection of alchemy and magic. In fact, anyone can take a master class and make their own jewelry. The technology turns out to be surprisingly simple, especially when a good master explains it. Our teacher Evgenia was able to interest even skeptical students. It seems that now half of the group will definitely return for the pendant for their signature collection.

Perhaps we do too :) And for the first visit to any master class, we give our readers a 10% discount using the promotional code BIGJEWEL (this must be entered in the class registration form).

Everyone brainiacs greetings! Today I'll tell you like with your own hands turn an ordinary nut into a ring, well, maybe not quite a ring, but definitely into a signet ring.

Step 1: Materials

Nut (to fit your finger, my nut is 2cm)
Angle grinder (grinder)
dremel
file
sandpaper (220, 600)
masking tape
sharp knife
power unit
common salt solution
cotton buds
varnish

Step 2: Stitching Corners

Carefully, observing safety regulations when working with power tools, grind off the corners of the nut. You can tighten the nut in brain tests and use a grinder to round the corners one by one. Be sure to check that the material is removed evenly, and do not forget that one plane of the nut remains intact.

Step 3: Tapering

When the corners are removed, we proceed to narrowing, that is, giving the nut the shape of a ring. We cut/stitch the material from the sides, narrowing it towards the bottom. We constantly check for symmetry, do not grind down too much, so as not to spoil it.

After narrowing it down under the tree Enough, we remove small chamfers along the edges of the signet and modify the shape at your discretion.

Step 4: Hole

At this stage, we pick up a suitable tool for removing the internal thread and forming a hole for the finger. I took my trusty “friend” - a Dremel, and grinded the threads for 15 minutes, so that the nut became hot.

We grind the material evenly, maintain symmetry, be sure to make internal chamfers and check how homemade sits on your finger.

Step 5: Sanding

We replace the Dremel with a file and clean and polish our brain trick, smooth out the grooves from the grinder and Dremel. After this, we complete the sanding with sandpaper of various grits, starting from 220 and up to 600.

I don't like rings that are too shiny, so I went with the level of polish shown in the photo, but you can bring the ring as smooth as you like.

Step 6: Print Design

Turn on brain fantasy and develop a design that we will apply to the ring. For example, I stylized my initials, reflected them symmetrically and drew them better so that the print was clear.

Step 7: Preparing for Etching

We will carry out the etching process by electrolysis, so we cover the surface of the ring that should be untouched with nail polish, adhesive tape or something similar. To do this, I chose masking tape, which I tightly glued to the ring, and then evenly and carefully cut out the previously invented design on it with a sharp knife.

Step 8: Etching

The etching process is quite interesting. I did it several times and I will say that everything is not as difficult and dangerous as it seems, although the smell is not very pleasant, but you can just close your mouth. And as a source brain flow I use a 12V charger.

So, we dilute the salt solution and connect the positive charger wire to the ring. We dip a cotton swab in a saline solution and attach a negative wire to it in a wet place, then use the resulting “electrode” stick to pass through those places crafts that need to be etched. At the same time, the longer you hold the stick, the more this place will be etched. Since this homemade not just a ring, but a signet, then I etched quite deep grooves so that the imprint would be clear. And the whole process took about 5 minutes and 7 sticks.

After etching is complete, disconnect the wires, wipe the signet in water and remove the tape. Perhaps in those places where the tape did not stick well, unnecessary etching resulted, but I think this is not critical.

Step 9: Varnishing

After the first day of wearing the ring, my finger became “rusty”, that is, the homemade product has oxidized, so I recommend that you cover the signet with colorless varnish. That's what I did - covered brainprinter polyurethane varnish.

Step 10: Craft ready!

The signet ring made from a regular nut is ready, thank you for your attention.

Good luck in brain creativity!
